New national cluster poised to strengthen innovation and growth
New national cluster poised to strengthen innovation and growth
After more than a year of intensive preparations, it’s now official. Denmark’s new national robot, automation and drone cluster will go live on 1 January under the name Odense Robotics – and will bring together the entire ecosystem to drive innovation and growth in the industry nationwide.

“Danmark’s robot, automation and drone companies are driven by the need to accelerate their growth and innovation, and that’s exactly what we aim to do in the new national cluster. We have succeeded in gathering the entire ecosystem and look forward to collaborating with companies and knowledge partners on a wide range of technological areas – across the country and across the entire value chain,” says Mikkel Christoffersen, Odense Robotics Cluster Director.

New national cluster

The cluster will have regional hubs in Aalborg, Aarhus, Copenhagen, Odense and Sonderborg, and the cluster secretariat will be established in Odense. The cluster is founded on partnerships with leading knowledge institutions: Aalborg University, Aarhus University, Kolding Design School, Danmark’s Technical University, FORCE Technology, the University of Southern Denmark and the Danish Technological Institute.

The cluster’s activities will engage the entire value chain and address a wide range of technologies, such as safe robot-human interaction, artificial intelligence in robots, developing successful startups and shaping more globally competitive companies. And always with a focus on how robots, automation and drones can contribute to a greener future.

“We are already creating new opportunities that companies can leverage once the new cluster is up and running. Our partnership with the Danish Industry Foundation is a great example and aims to realise companies’ growth potential by enhancing their global competitiveness. Soon we look forward to announcing yet another partnership with a significant sponsor from the Danish business community. There is significant support from Denmark’s business community to the new cluster,” says Mikkel Christoffersen.

Same well-known leadership – new national vision

The new cluster builds upon the strong foundation created by the three merged organisations: the regional cluster Odense Robotics, the national drone cluster UAS Denmark and the innovation network RoboCluster. Mikkel Christoffersen is currently director of the regional cluster Odense Robotics and will be the director in the new national cluster of the same name. The Board of Directors is expected to be established in November.

Despite similarities in the clusters’ leadership and names, Mikkel Christoffersen emphasises that the national cluster is a new organisation with a new vision: to make Denmark a bigger, better robot nation. The new logo illustrates the cluster’s central role in connecting the entire ecosystem and strengthening innovation in an ever-changing industry.

Become a member

If you are already a member of the regional cluster Odense Robotics, the national drone cluster UAS Denmark or the innovation network RoboCluster, then you will automatically be contacted by us at the end of 2020 and be offered membership of the new national cluster.

If you are not already a member of one of the above-mentioned organisations, you can show your interest in becoming a member of the new national cluster by sending an email to Martin Jespersen, mjesp@odenserobotics.dk. At the end of the year we will contact you with more information about how you can become a member.
