This year’s Odense Robotics Insight Report, published today, reveals new figures for the cluster’s growth. The report shows an increasing focus on collaboration and new product development.

A total of 98% of companies in Odense Robotics say collaboration is their most important strategic focus area. And as many as 78% of companies collaborate with other cluster companies. At the same time, the number of producers in the cluster increased by 22% last year. And the number of companies working with collaborative robots and/or mobile robots and related products increased by 62% to almost one in three.

The figures, from Odense Robotics Insight Report 2019, reveal the extent of collaboration between companies in the cluster for the first time. The report clearly shows that collaboration is top strategic priority for robot and automation companies in and around Odense.
Proxima Centauri becomes a part of the StartUp Hub
Robotics in the sausage industry

Proxima Centauri has just moved into the Odense Robotics StartUp Hub. CEO Jan Pedersen describes how the company’s unique technology can reduce costs and improve products in the sausage industry. Also, he reveals what they hope to achieve while in the Hub.

Can you describe your technology and why it’s unique?
All sausage factories use intestines, known as ‘natural casings’. It’s important that casing diameter is correct, as sausage production depends on casings having the expected diameter. Today, casings from around 200 million pigs from Europe are cleaned, salted, packaged and sent to China to be sorted – where this is done 100% manually. Around 7,000 people in China measure and sort casings from Europe.

In the search for highly qualified candidates, Odense Robotics participated in Europe's largest career fair, Emigration Expo in Holland. The Danish Minister for Employment, Troels Lund Poulsen, dropped by the stand for a chat about the developments in the cluster.

At Emigration Expo, Odense Robotics met an array of candidates within IT and mechanical engineering, many of whom were considering a career within robotics and automation abroad. Odense Robotics highlighted the many career opportunities within the industry as part of a large stand organised by Work in Denmark.
New companies in the cluster
Meet Mikkel Skaarup Jaedicke, robotics developer at Cabinplant
“I love seeing my code come to life,” says Mikkel Skaarup Jaedicke. In the video, he talks about the kick he gets out of going to work. Mikkel works with Cabinplant’s multi-head weigher, which helps reduce time and costs in food production.

Cabinplant is a company in the Odense Robotics cluster that develops, manufactures and markets processing equipment for the food industry worldwide. Many of the company’s inventions are now global market standards.
